Once I picked the MacBook up from repair, the lid made a cracking noise when it opened and closed and a usb-c port loses connection if the cable is lifted gently. Never again! I take some blame but they should make a less fragile item, aside from thoughtless sticking the paper in there, I’ve taken great care of the computer. Now, I bought this fragile piece of crap and this is what happens.

****, I’ve done this with so many windows computers for years and never had an issue. I think I know exactly what caused it, I had a 2 pieces of paper closed inside the macbook pro and I think the staple did it when the screen was closed.

So I paid $3500 for it new, paid $680 for the first repair, now, I’m trying to figure out, do I just list it on ebay as a crack screen or do I paid another $680 for the repair? If I do the second repair, I’d now have spent $4,860 BEFORE all the money I’ve spent on accessories.ĭO NOT BUY THIS NOTEBOOK IF YOU’RE A STUDENT. I paid nearly $680 to have the computer screen repair, now, 2 months after that repair I noticed a small crack on the screen, again! Instead of only $99 for the deductible, ugh!!!

So, I bought my computer 6 months too early and there was no way to get coverage under AppleCare+ so, I'd have to pay the full cost for a screen replacement. AppleCare+ was not available for any Apple products that was sold before June 2017. They said I MIGHT have to only pay a $99 deductible BUT it happened that I only had AppleCare (not AppleCarePlus). Took it to MacMedics, which is an Apple authorized retailer that fixes Apple products. I bought it in January of 2017, December 2017 (so, almost one year) I noticed a crack on the bottom right of my screen I have no idea where it came from but assumed it was my fault. I bought a new (at the time) Macbook Pro 15 inch, 16GB RAM, 1GB SSD, 4GB video memory and all the latest specs on my first laptop. Ughh!!! So angry at Apple! This is my very first Apple Computer. There are no visible marks anywhere else on the mac, no sign of impact. I presume acknowledging such a fault would open the flood gates to complaints and there is no good way to discern between genuine issues and accidental damage. (btw I live alone)Īpple said they have never seen this issue, that it was impossible for this kind of damage unless the screen had been hit or dropped and charged me almost £500 to repair it which I had no choice but to cough up. When I returned back from lunch and woke the MacBook from sleep, the following crack was showing and I took a photo immediately. I was using it all morning for work, I was working remotely so it did not leave my desk. The above posts appear to show a crack beginning from the edge of the screen - my screen crack spontaneously appeared a little further up from the bottom after 20 days of use.
